I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m in a constant battle with my skin. Some days it’s too dry, some days it’s too oily, other days I have a face full of pimples, and on the rare occasion, I have a flawless and even complexion. Right now my skin is great, so I thought that this would be the perfect time to share with you what’s been working for me lately!

Morning Routine
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleansing my face in the morning is as easy as using a face wipe. My current favorite is Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes. These wipes are easy to use and leave my skin feeling refreshed. I can get redness on my face when I wash with a face wash in the morning so I switched to these calming wipes to help keep my skin neutral and hydrated.

Step 2: Serum
I have been using a Vitamin C Serum after cleansing in the morning to brighten my skin tone and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Ladies, it is never too early to start combating aging skin! I love the way Vitamin C Serum smells and leaves my skin feeling smooth and firm. I apply 3 drops to my face and smooth it everywhere, avoiding the eyes and lips. I’ve used both of the linked products and they both work great! These are slightly different, so do some research on which Vitamin C Serum will work best for you.
Step 3: Moisturize
Moisturizing is a major key in having happy and healthy skin. My current favorite moisturizer is Skin & Good Cera Super Cream. This is a dupe for my ultimate favorite moisturizer from It Cosmetics but I sadly cannot commit to a $50 moisturizer which is why I searched high and low for something similar. Skin & Good Cera is amazing and leaves my skin feeling the same as it did when I was using It Cosmetics Confidence in a cream!

That’s it for my morning routine! Very simple with only three products. It’s quick and easy which is perfect for when I’m in a rush!
Evening Routine
Step 1: Cleanse
I am in the process of finding the perfect face wash, but I have been using Mary Kay Age Minimize 3D 4-in-one Cleanser for the past few months during the evening and it’s been working well! The other products that came with the Age Minimize 3D set caused me to break out, so I stopped using the morning and night creams and only use the cleanser. I wash my face in the shower right before I get out and pat dry.

Step 2: Treat Acne and Blemishes
After my face is clean and dry, I usually check in the mirror for any blackheads or pimples that are ready to go. I know you aren’t ‘supposed’ to mess with acne or pimples because of the risk of scarring but I can’t help myself sometimes! I use this pimple popping kit to help keep damage at a minimum.

After wrecking my face with the pimple popping kit (haha) I apply Differin Adapalene Gel to treat my acne. With a pea-sized amount of product, I spread this evenly over my face with my fingers, avoiding the eyelid and lip area. This acne treatment has helped me minimize the bumpy texture I used to have on my forehead because of closed comedones and it’s the ONLY thing that has gotten rid of those for me! This product can cause dryness and also makes your acne worse before it gets better, so if you’re using it for the first time I recommend using it every other night at first AFTER you apply moisturizer until you get used to it. This is what I did for the first month that I used this acne treatment.

Step 3: Essential Oils
I want to preface this step by saying that I don’t usually use essential oils and had never tried them until I was given a free sample of Frankincense and it has been a GAME CHANGER. This was the missing piece for me in terms of getting my skin to balance out. Frankincense has been known to reduce signs of aging and help with acne. I can testify that it has been doing exactly what it is supposed to!

Step 4: Moisturize
To complete my evening skincare routine, I use the same moisturizer as I do in the morning (Skin & Good Cera Super Cream). If a certain area of my face is more dry compared to everywhere else, I will add a thicker layer in that area. Once moisturizing is complete, I’m ready for bed!
Bonus Step: Face Shaving
Once a month, I shave the peach fuzz off of my face. I learned how to do this by watching Jaclyn Hill’s YouTube tutorial and I use Tinkle Eyebrow Razors to do exactly what Jaclyn does in her video. If you skip to 6:40 you can see her technique in action, which is what I did to learn! It was scary the first time, but I regret nothing! The reason I do this is to exfoliate my skin and to have a more even surface when applying foundation. The first time I did this I felt an amazing difference and I haven’t looked back sense! I have not had any issues with hair growing back darker or thicker, either, which I know is a concern for many people. Take my word for it and try it yourself! P.S. this is not a Jaclyn Hill sponsored post, I just like the way she explains face shaving!
Final Thoughts
Skin care is a very personal thing. What works for me might not work for you, and that’s okay! It’s all about trial and error until you find something that works perfectly. Once you find your routine, keep it until it stops working for you before switching things up! Also, some products take a little longer to begin working, so try to use products for a week or so before giving up on them. Acne and skin imperfections can be frustrating, but with the right amount of research, I’m sure you can find something that works for you!
Much love, Ashley Marie
