Do you have a favorite place that brings back happy memories? For me, that place is Camp Kesem. This camp is not a typical camp- it’s a camp for children who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer. As a Kesem counselor and now an alumni volunteer, I have held Camp Kesem near and dear to my heart for many years. Even though my first experience with Camp Kesem was in 2014, I still remember that week with so much detail and joy.
Certain places and moments in time stick with us. Life Less Ordinary- a personalized jewelry company, has a mission to preserve these memories. Joseph and Amie Cook, the founders of Life Less Ordinary, say that their idea for the company flourished because of people’s unique life experiences. The idea for making personalized jewelry came from meeting others with stories to tell. With handmade personalized jewelry, you have a conversation starter on your wrist!
The jewelry pieces are handmade from Tagua nut, which is actually a large seed from the top of palm trees. Tagua nuts, or “vegetable ivory” as some call it, is a hard and dense material that is an ethical alternative to animal ivory. Each piece is made in the couple’s workshop in Brighton completely cruelty free and made to order.
Life Less Ordinary donates 10% of net profits to charity. There are so many good things to say about this company, and I was thrilled when given the opportunity to review their jewelry.
The reason I brought up Camp Kesem in the beginning of this post is because I am always looking for ways to commemorate my Camp Kesem experience. This camp is so special to me, so any time I have an opportunity to showcase my love for the organization, I do so with no hesitations. This is exactly what I did when I was contacted by Life Less Ordinary– I jumped at the chance to share my passion for Kesem and create a keepsake that will last a lifetime.

I received two bracelets complimentary from Life Less Ordinary to review. The personalized bracelet I received has the coordinates of the campsite from my first week at Camp Kesem on the front, and on the back I chose to add the saying “No place like Camp Kesem”. This beautiful piece means a lot to me and I cannot wait to wear it to all the camps I go to in the future!
I also received the “elements” triangle bracelet. This bracelet also holds a special meaning for me, as triangles have always reminded me of strength and stability. Triangles are the strongest geometrical shape- it symbolizes being strong no matter what.

Both bracelets I received are well-made and special. I can’t thank Joseph and Amie enough for allowing me to review their beautiful company. I highly recommend these bracelets to everyone. They would make such special gifts and can help you preserve your happiest memories.
Much love, Ashley Marie
