Hack #1: Sort by Type and Style
My biggest time saving hack is to sort your closet by type and style. Start out by sorting all jackets, tops, sweaters, cardigans, pants, skirts dresses, etc. After these items are sorted by type, start sorting each group by style. For example, I hang all of my denim jackets together, then all my athletic jackets, lightweight jackets, dressy jackets. Doing this will make it easier to find what you are looking for when in a hurry! If you know you need to wear business casual to work, you can look at your work pants section and then your dress shirt section to pick out your outfit. This was the biggest game changer for me and has helped me stay organized while getting ready.

Hack #2: If you change your mind, hang it back up!
I know it is so easy to throw what we don’t wear on the floor as we are picking out an outfit. I am a huge culprit of this, but recently I have been working on hanging up what I don’t wear right away so that i don’t create that dreaded pile. Doing this will also keep your clothes from wrinkling!

Hack #3: Hang as much as you can!
Having as many of your clothes hangers as possible can help you see what you have and help you to avoid forgetting about clothes in your dresser. I try to hang everything except for basic items so that I can easily see all of my clothes and keep switching things up. Amazon has affordable velvet hangers which I highly recommend!
Hack #4: Use organizers inside your closet!
Ikea and Amazon have great organization tools for closets which have helped me keep everything in its place. I have a large closet so I use drawer organizers on a shelf to organize my socks, bras and underwear. My accessories are also stored in the closet. There is a great sunglasses organizer and belt organizer on Amazon that make it easy to keep track of smaller items. Hanging up my purses on the wall with command hooks has been a game changer as well.

Hack #5: Get rid of what you don’t wear!
If you are a clothes hoarder like me, your closet can feel like an overwhelming place. I have made it a habit to go through my closet and sell or donate clothing that I haven’t worn in a while. This has helped me free up space and has helped me feel less stressed when getting ready because I only keep clothes in my closet that I actually love.

Above all else- find a system that works for you!
Getting ready should be a fun experience. Spend less time choosing an outfit by trying some of these closet organization hacks! What do you do to keep your closet organized? Let me know in the comments!
Much love, Ashley Marie
